Our Story

Our journey began with a simple love for gardening and a passion for flowers that only grew with each passing year. I, Tara, founded Rusty Shovel Growing Co. driven by the joy of sharing nature’s marvels. After a year of abundant blooms and sharing the beauty with friends and family, I ventured into flower farming to bring a wider variety of extraordinary flowers to our community.

Dismayed by the over-commercialization of home gardening and the limited access to unique flower varieties, I was inspired to change the landscape. Rusty Shovel Growing Co. was born from a desire to reconnect people with stunning, unusual flowers and to empower gardeners at all levels to embrace more sustainable practices.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At the heart of Rusty Shovel Growing Co. are our core values of sustainability, learning, and appreciation for nature’s diversity. We are dedicated to practices that respect and enhance the earth—employing regenerative farming techniques to enrich our soil, promote biodiversity, and maintain harmony with nature’s systems.

Rusty Shovel Growing Co. is not just another flower business. We offer an array of unique, high-quality flowers, alongside educational content that demystifies gardening. Our sustainable approach ensures that every petal and leaf is as planet-friendly as it is beautiful.

Engaging with Our Community

Our clients range from eco-conscious individuals and novice home gardeners to experienced cultivators seeking to diversify their gardens. We cater to all by offering various price points and services like pre-orders and local delivery, ensuring that our flowers are accessible to everyone.

Community lies at the core of our operations. We share the beauty we cultivate through our flower stand and host events that offer more than just the opportunity to buy flowers. These gatherings are a chance to learn about regenerative agriculture, participate in hands-on gardening workshops, and connect more deeply with the natural world.
